Have you ever been a part of a conversation with someone you admire/really want to impress or someone you’ve just met and had them ask you if you know something and you’ve said ‘yes’ just so they don’t feel embarrassed or so you come across somewhat more relatable to them?
I thought so, it happens to the best of us! If you haven’t, what are your secrets? Because everyone I know has – at some point in their life, found themselves in this situation.
Why is this relevant? You may ask. How about finding yourself in this awkward scenario when planning your wedding. Arguably one of the biggest milestones of your life, and there’s a potential risk of you pretending you know something you don’t, just so you don’t feel silly for not knowing. Reality check – traditionally, you’re only getting married once; so you’re not meant to know what to do right away. You’re not a mind reader and more often than not, you won’t have done it before and you don’t plan to do it again…am I making sense?
I thought I’d write a blog post with the aim to reassure you that you’re not meant to know what you’re doing when starting out on your wedding planning journey. I also made a YouTube video filming one of my best friends (outside of the wedding industry) guessing the definitions of some words you may come across to help you to recognise you are not alone.
If you saw my blog post last month, you might see some similarity in what I’m saying, it’s what I’m here for. As planners, sharing our industry knowledge with you is part of the package and it’s our duty to ensure you know everything about the suppliers/traditions/logistics of your wedding day, after all it’s your special day.
Check out this fun video, and if you scroll down just a little bit further I have created a wedding glossary of the words FREE to download; covering all the ‘wedding lingo’ we talk about in my latest YouTube video. Enjoy!
Thank you for reading this far! My ‘Glossary of Wedding Words’ is FREE for you to download and to refer to when going about your own wedding planning. Click the button below.
